Identity and access management, hosted
FortiIdentity Cloud, formerly FortiToken Cloud, is a hosted identity and access management service. It limits access to resources to users who are both authenticated and authorised, and layers multifactor authentication on top of passwords and single sign-on, all administered from the cloud. It operates as a standalone identity provider and as an IdP proxy for SAML and OIDC applications, and it can synchronise with remote directories.
Authentication methods
Users can approve logins with push notifications from the FortiToken Mobile app, which is included in the subscription. The service also supports one-time codes by email and SMS, hardware FortiTokens, and FIDO2 passkeys, so a single deployment can cover users who need different methods. Users can be added automatically from Fortinet products, or manually by CSV, API or SCIM.
Where it fits
The service integrates with FortiGate for administrator, firewall and VPN logins, and with FortiAuthenticator, FortiPAM, FortiSandbox and FortiADC, with an open API for other web applications. There is no additional hardware or software to deploy and no change required to existing FortiGate security policies or ACLs. Licensing is per user per year, each subscription includes 125 SMS credits per user, and licences stack and co-term on renewal.
