Central management as a subscription
FortiManager Cloud is the hosted form of the platform: Fortinet runs the management instance and the subscription is sized by the number of devices or VDOMs being managed. There is no appliance to rack and no virtual machine to patch, which makes it the lowest-overhead way to bring a distributed estate under one policy framework.
What the subscription covers
The device-based subscription includes FortiCare Premium support. Subscriptions are sold in device tiers starting at 3 devices or VDOMs and rising through 10, 100 and 1,000, over terms of one year upward, so the commitment can be matched to how long the estate is expected to stay at a given size.
The FortiAI service
A separate FortiAI service subscription adds generative AI assistance to the cloud instance, using large language models for real-time help with orchestration, automation and monitoring. It is licensed against the same device tiers, and additional AI capacity is available as top-up licences of 500,000 tokens where the service is used heavily.
