Overview

FortiToken Mobile

An OATH-compliant soft token for iOS, Android and Windows that turns the phone already in a user’s pocket into the second factor, with a perpetual licence.

The phone as the token

FortiToken Mobile is an OATH-compliant, time-based one-time password generator for mobile devices. It lets a phone do the job of a hardware token, so users do not have to carry a second device. It is the client side of Fortinet’s two-factor authentication offering and works with any OATH-compliant, time-based authentication server, including FortiAuthenticator.

Validated by the FortiGate

The app can also work directly against FortiGate firewalls, including high-availability configurations. The FortiGate checks the one-time password for SSL VPN, IPsec VPN, captive portal and administrator logins, which removes the need for a separate RADIUS server in most deployments.

Provisioning and licensing

Token provisioning runs through FortiGuard, which reduces administrative work and protects the token seeds: seeds are generated dynamically, tied to the device and encrypted both at rest and in transit. The licence is perpetual with unlimited device transfers and no annual subscription fee, but it is registered to a single Fortinet appliance and is not transferable between appliances.
