All performance figures are stated by Fortinet as maximums and vary with system configuration.
IPS, application control, NGFW and threat protection figures are measured with logging enabled. NGFW is firewall, IPS and application control; threat protection adds malware protection.
IPsec VPN performance is tested with AES256-SHA256. SSL inspection figures are an average across HTTPS cipher suites.
There is no onboard SSD on the 2600F - the datasheet lists its onboard storage as zero. The FortiGate 2601F is the same appliance with NVMe storage fitted, for a unit that has to keep its own log history.
The 24 million concurrent sessions and 1 million new sessions a second are the figures without the hyperscale licence. LIC-FG26F-HYPSC raises them to 40 million and 2 million by moving session setup, session logging and NAT into the NP7.
Fortinet lists DC-powered 2600F-DC and 2601F-DC variants on the same datasheet. The catalogue page carries no separate ordering part numbers for them - ask us and we will source them.
Two 10 GE SFP+ SR transceivers are included with the appliance. Any other optics, QSFP28 modules and direct attach cables are quoted separately.

A Segmentation Engine for the Data Centre Core
Thirty-one Gbps of IPS and twenty-five of full threat protection, on 198 Gbps of firewall throughput and twenty-four million concurrent sessions. The 2600F is built for internal segmentation at the core of a data network rather than a perimeter: four 100 GE QSFP28 slots mean it can sit inline on a spine without an aggregation layer in front of it.
What the Hyperscale Licence Buys
LIC-FG26F-HYPSC is a perpetual licence rather than a subscription, and it moves hardware session setup, firewall session logging and NAT into the NP7. The effect is on the session table rather than the bandwidth: twenty-four million concurrent sessions becomes forty million, and one million new sessions a second becomes two. For carrier-grade NAT and IPv6 migration that is the number that decides the platform.
Thirty-Eight Interfaces, Two Rack Units
Sixteen 10 GE RJ45, sixteen 25 GE SFP28 that step down to 10 GE, four 100 GE QSFP28 that also take 40 GE, two 10 GE SFP+ HA slots and two management ports. A TPM is fitted for key storage. There is no onboard SSD on this model - the 2601F is the same appliance with NVMe storage.
