All performance figures are stated by Fortinet as maximums and vary with system configuration.
IPS, application control, NGFW and threat protection figures are measured with logging enabled. NGFW is firewall, IPS and application control; threat protection adds malware protection.
IPsec VPN performance is tested with AES256-SHA256. SSL inspection figures are an average across HTTPS cipher suites.
The datasheet gives the onboard storage as 2 x 1 TB NVMe SSD and the vendor catalogue as 2 x 960 GB. We have not been able to reconcile the two and have reported both rather than pick one - confirm at quote if the exact capacity matters.
The 24 million concurrent sessions and 1 million new sessions a second are the figures without the hyperscale licence. LIC-FG26F-HYPSC raises them to 40 million and 2 million by moving session setup, session logging and NAT into the NP7.
Fortinet lists DC-powered 2600F-DC and 2601F-DC variants on the same datasheet. The catalogue page carries no separate ordering part numbers for them - ask us and we will source them.
Two 10 GE SFP+ SR transceivers are included with the appliance. Any other optics, QSFP28 modules and direct attach cables are quoted separately.

The FortiGate 2600F with 2 TB of NVMe storage - the same twenty-four million sessions, keeping its own log history.
The 2600F With Storage Fitted
Every performance figure here is identical to the FortiGate 2600F. What the 2601F adds is two 1 TB NVMe SSDs, so a segmentation firewall carrying twenty-four million concurrent sessions holds its own log history rather than depending on a reachable FortiAnalyzer. NVMe rather than SATA matters at this session rate.
What the Hyperscale Licence Buys
LIC-FG26F-HYPSC is a perpetual licence rather than a subscription, and it moves hardware session setup, firewall session logging and NAT into the NP7. Twenty-four million concurrent sessions becomes forty million, and one million new sessions a second becomes two.
Thirty-Eight Interfaces, Two Rack Units
Sixteen 10 GE RJ45, sixteen 25 GE SFP28 that step down to 10 GE, four 100 GE QSFP28 that also take 40 GE, two 10 GE SFP+ HA slots and two management ports, with a TPM fitted for key storage.
