FortiSwitch 124F
Twenty-four Gigabit ports and four 10 Gigabit uplinks in a fanless 1 RU switch.
A Fanless 24-Port Switch
Most 24-port rack switches have fans, which rules them out of a room where people work. The 124F does not, because without PoE there is little heat to move. For an office floor, a studio or a classroom where the cabinet is in the room, that is the whole argument - and the four 10 Gigabit uplinks mean it is not a compromise on capacity.
Managed as an Extension of the Firewall
A FortiSwitch can run standalone, but the reason to buy one alongside a FortiGate is FortiLink: the switch becomes a logical extension of the firewall, so ports, VLANs and network access control are configured in the same console as the security policy. That removes the usual split between the team that owns the switch and the team that owns the firewall, and it is why NAC on these switches costs nothing extra.
