None of Fortinet’s current FortiSwitch datasheets carries a specifications table for this model - the published table covers the FortiSwitchRugged 112D-POE instead. The interfaces above come from the appliance’s catalogue description. Ask us and we will get the full figures confirmed before you specify it.
The 112D-POE in the published table is an 802.3af/at switch with a 240 W budget and 4 x 100Mbps/1 GE SFP. This model is 802.3bt type 4 at up to 90 W a port, so the older table is not a substitute.

FortiSwitchRugged 112F-POE

Ninety Watts in a Harsh Environment
Powering a pan-tilt-zoom camera or a heated enclosure needs 802.3bt, and getting that in a fanless DIN-rail switch is unusual. The 112F-POE does it on all eight copper ports with a 240 W budget, which covers two or three high-draw devices or eight ordinary ones, with four SFP ports for the fibre uplink.
Built for Places a Rack Switch Cannot Go
The Rugged series trades port count and capacity for survivability: fanless cooling, DIN-rail or rack mounting, redundant DC input terminals rather than an AC cord, and an operating range that runs well below freezing. Substations, trackside cabinets, water treatment plants, mines and outdoor enclosures are the deployments - places where an ordinary switch fails on temperature, vibration or dust long before it fails on throughput.
Managed as an Extension of the Firewall
A FortiSwitch can run standalone, but the reason to buy one alongside a FortiGate is FortiLink: the switch becomes a logical extension of the firewall, so ports, VLANs and network access control are configured in the same console as the security policy. That removes the usual split between the team that owns the switch and the team that owns the firewall, and it is why NAC on these switches costs nothing extra.
